Growing in front of the hall is a four hundred year old pine tree. Known as the Consort Pine, it symbolises the harmony between the Emperor and Empress.

Imperial Garden- Forbidden City, Beijing

This garden was designed during the Ming Dynasty. It is located outside of the Gate of Terrestrial Tranquility which served as a private retreat for the imperial family. There are a vast number of ancient trees (Cypress and Chinese wisteria)around the garden and are all over hundred years old.
