Brown Basilisk on my Screen Patio

Basiliscus is a genus of large corytophanid lizards, commonly known as basilisks, which are endemic to southern Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. Commonly known as the Jesus Christ Lizard, or simply the Jesus Lizard due to their ability to run across water for significant distances before sinking.

This lizard has taken refuge in my backyard garden. Sometimes I can spot him in the front garden and change color from green to brown. Lives mostly on insects.

  1. Well, you’ve probably seen the movie Forrest Gump and are familiar with the saying: “Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re going to get.” Two weeks ago, I opened the garage door and a Racer Snake was there to greet me. By the time I tried to get my camera, he was gone. My backyard has some of those surprises, and I am glad when I can capture them. Thanks.
