Basiliscus is a genus of large corytophanid lizards, commonly known as basilisks, which are endemic to southern Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. Commonly known as the Jesus Christ Lizard, or simply the Jesus Lizard due to their ability to run across water for significant distances before sinking.
Brown Basilisk in the grass
This lizard has taken refuge in my backyard garden. Sometimes I can spot him in the front garden and change color from green to brown. Lives mostly on insects.
I would classify this species as a Miniature Cattleya Orchid. This old plant was given to me couple of years ago by someone who was trimming trees in my neighborhood and had removed it from the tree branch where the roots had deeply penetrated. With care, patience and help from my wife, this beautiful flower emerged recently. Enjoy.
