Manatee with Calf

Manatee with Calf

Manatees are large sea mammals. They also refer to them as sea cows, but the name that I think is best suited is “Gentle Giants.”
Manatees prefer warmer temperatures and are known to congregate in shallow waters. They frequently migrate through brackish water estuaries to freshwater springs. They cannot survive below 15°C (60°F). Their natural source for warmth during winter is warm, spring-fed rivers.
One suitable place to spot them during the winter is Blue Springs State Park in Orange City, Florida, where this picture was taken.

While driving that morning, I was amazed by the spectacular view. I had no tripod and no wide angle lens. All I had that day was my Point and Shoot Sony camera Model:RX-100. I stopped the car, aimed and shot this picture, capturing the color, the sun and the fog which, in my humble opinion, created this dramatic shot.
